Does Maryland Orthopedic Specialists take my insurance?

We are in-network with most major insurance plans — including CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, and Tricare — plus select Maryland Medicaid plans. Coverage varies by plan, so call or text (301) 515-0900 to confirm yours.

Good orthopedic care shouldn't depend on the kind of insurance card you carry. We are in-network with most major commercial plans, Medicare, and Tricare, and we deliberately participate in select Maryland Medicaid plans so that access isn't a barrier for patients across Montgomery County. Plans We Don't Currently Accept

We do not currently accept Kaiser Permanente HMO, Medicaid from states other than Maryland, DC Medicaid, VA Medicaid, or Medicaid Dual Complete plans. If you have one of these plans, please call us — in some cases we may still be able to help on a self-pay basis.

Workers' Compensation & Auto / MVA Claims

We accept Workers' Compensation and Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) liability claims. Please call us before scheduling so we can confirm authorization requirements.

Does Maryland Orthopedic Specialists accept my insurance?
We are in-network with most major commercial plans — including CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare — as well as Medicare, Tricare, and select Maryland Medicaid plans. Plan options vary by employer, so if you do not see your plan listed, call us at (301) 515-0900 and our team will verify your coverage before your visit.
Do I need a referral to be seen?
It depends on your plan. Many HMO and Medicare Advantage plans require a referral or prior authorization from your primary care provider before an orthopedic or physical therapy visit, while most PPO plans do not. When you call to schedule, we will check your plan and let you know exactly what is needed.
Do you accept Medicaid?
We participate in select Maryland Medicaid managed-care plans (Priority Partners and Jai Medical Systems). We accept Maryland Medicaid only — not Medicaid from other states, DC Medicaid, or VA Medicaid. Accepting Medicaid is a deliberate part of our commitment to keeping orthopedic care accessible across Montgomery County.
