Katie Reutemann, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist | Doctor of Physical Therapy
About Katie
Katie Reutemann has been caring for patients alongside the MOS sports medicine team in Germantown for two decades. For a lifelong Washingtonian who grew up in Montgomery County, graduated from Wootton High School, and earned her degree from the University of Maryland, this isn't just a workplace. It's home.
At Maryland, Katie earned her B.S. in Kinesiology in 1998 as part of the Honors Program, completing a thesis on exercise and pregnancy, a subject that has stayed with her given her large and close extended family. She also spent all four years as a member of the Gymkana troupe, performing gymnastics with a mission of promoting healthy, substance-free living. That commitment to movement as a way of life has never left her.
She completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California in 2003, with clinical rotations in both wound care and hand therapy. In the years since, she has pursued continuing education in pain management, balance and vestibular training, women's health, and a wide range of orthopedic topics, building one of the most versatile clinical skill sets on the team. She is proficient in Spanish, has mentored many PT and PTA students over her career, and has competed in adult acrobatic gymnastics. That means when she talks to patients about what it takes to get back to a sport, she knows exactly what she's asking of them.
Patients who have worked with other therapists tend to seek Katie out specifically:
"Katie is an amazing therapist who takes time to get to know all her patients on a personal level. She's super positive, energetic, and a blast to be around. It's so comforting to be in the care of someone who is so knowledgeable and is a great listener as well. I'd recommend Katie to anyone."
"This is the second time I have been seen by Katie, and I chose to come back. The entire staff is professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They listen to patients and adjust accordingly so we know we have been heard."
"I thought PT would be unpleasant, but Katie and the staff have been incredibly sensitive and helpful given my condition. I have experienced a lot of pain improvement since I began."
"Katie is thorough and explains every exercise. She and her team are honest, professional, compassionate, and genuinely care about the patient."
Outside the clinic, Katie loves the outdoors: hiking, biking, skiing, skating, and dancing. She sings competitively in barbershop choral and quartet groups, and spends her free time baking, crocheting, and with her family.
