About

Dr. Gary Feldman has spent more than 26 years building one of the most comprehensive foot and ankle practices in Montgomery County — and he's done it in the community where he grew up.

A Montgomery County native, Gary earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland before completing his graduate training at the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine. He went on to advanced surgical training as Chief Resident at St. Agnes Medical Center in Philadelphia, where he built proficiency across some of the most demanding areas of foot and ankle care: diabetic limb salvage, pediatric disorders, and complex foot and ankle reconstruction.

That breadth has only grown since. Today, Dr. Feldman offers state-of-the-art care including ultrasound-guided procedures and diagnosis, PRP injection therapy, and Total Ankle Replacement Surgery for patients with advanced ankle arthritis — a procedure that, for the right candidate, can restore mobility that patients had assumed was permanently lost.

A career built around sports medicine

Over more than two decades in private practice, Dr. Feldman has developed a particular focus on sports medicine injuries of the foot and ankle. He has served as team physician for multiple high school football programs, was a part-time editor for The Physician and Sports Medicine, a respected journal in the field, and has served as one of the team physicians for DC United, Major League Soccer's DC franchise. He has also been a medical liaison for George Washington University's basketball, soccer, and gymnastics programs — work that has given him firsthand experience with the foot and ankle demands specific to athletes at every level.

Training the next generation

Dr. Feldman is an active contributor to the MedStar/Georgetown University Hospital residency training program and has previously participated in training at the Inova Hospital system, helping supervise surgical training for second- and third-year residents. He is on staff at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and Chevy Chase Surgical Center. He is also a founding member of the Watkins Mill Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Beyond the practice

Dr. Feldman has also given his time to The Bear Hug Foundation, a non-profit through which he traveled to El Salvador and other underserved regions to provide foot and ankle care to populations without regular access to medical treatment.

Raised in Montgomery County, Dr. Feldman has chosen to raise his own family here. He's an avid athlete himself — running, cycling, golfing, and playing basketball — and a lifelong, loyal fan of the Washington Capitals and the local football team. When he's not in the clinic, he's spending time with his wife and two children, traveling, and seeking out new food.

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Dr. Feldman was very knowledgeable, thorough, and has a very pleasant personality. Since I had to make a decision on which treatment plan I preferred to pursue, he gave me plenty of time to decide while he was seeing other patients. I appreciated that very much. My wife and I have been to this practice before and seen other physicians. They are outstanding and highly recommend them. Michael Kirschner
